To mark the occasion, we sat down with Vanessa to talk about her journey, inspiration, and vision for SEKKIN.
Q: What inspired you to start SEKKIN?
Vanessa:
“SEKKIN was born from my love of travel, food, and the human connection that happens around a shared meal. Growing up in Lebanon and traveling to over 105 countries, I saw how food could build bridges and tell stories.
From meals shared in a stranger’s home in Kampala to wandering spice markets in Delhi, I came home with the desire to create something meaningful. While working at Google, I saw a gap: most affordable kitchen tools lacked quality, and the high-end ones lacked soul. SEKKIN came from wanting to change that.”
Q: What makes SEKKIN different from other knife brands?
Vanessa:
“At SEKKIN, we focus on blending thoughtful design with precision craftsmanship. Our knives are sharp and functional—but also beautiful and approachable.
We don’t just sell tools. We’re building a community of food lovers who care about the experience of cooking, not just the outcome. SEKKIN is about empowerment, inclusivity, and joy in the kitchen.”
Q: What’s your vision for the future of SEKKIN?
Vanessa:
“Our vision is to transform everyday cooking into something more: a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection.
We’re expanding our product range, deepening our community, and continuing to make high-quality kitchen tools accessible to everyone—so more people can cook with confidence, curiosity, and care.”
