Stepping into the Unknown: Reflections on Leaving Google to Build SEKKIN
Share
It wasn't an easy decision to leave a steady job at Google to build my own business. I mean, who would give up the perks of free gourmet meals, massages, and a cozy salary, right?
But when I found something that set my soul on fire, I knew I had to pursue it. That something was SEKKIN, a business that aims to simplify and demystify home cooking.
To me, food isn't just fuel - it's a way of expressing love, gratitude, and connection. My passion for cooking started as a child in Lebanon, watching my mom and grandmother whipping up dishes that made our house smell like heaven. I remember the joy of sharing meals with family and friends, the feeling of connection that comes with breaking bread together.
As I grew older, I traveled to more than 100 countries searching for that elusive love language and discovering the various ways it gets expressed across cultures. I sampled flavors and ingredients from different regions, learning about the power of food to bring people together in a universal language of love and nourishment.
But it wasn't until my time at Google that I realized the potential for SEKKIN. I saw how many people struggled to find the time and energy to cook at home, and how daunting the process could be without the right tools and knowledge. And during the pandemic, I saw this struggle intensify as people were forced to stay at home and cook more often than ever before.
So I decided to take a leap of faith and build something that would make cooking more accessible and enjoyable for everyone - regardless of their background or experience in the kitchen. I resigned from Google and put my heart and soul into SEKKIN.
It hasn't been an easy journey, but it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Every day, I wake up inspired by the idea that SEKKIN can help spread the love language of food all over the world.
I'm proud to say that SEKKIN has come a long way since its inception. We've created a high-quality chef's knife that is designed to make cooking easier and more enjoyable, and we've built a community of passionate foodies who share our love for good food and good company.
As I look back on my journey, I realize that leaving the comfort of a corporate job to build something new was the best decision I ever made. It wasn't just about the freedom and flexibility of being my own boss, but also the fulfillment of pursuing something that truly matters to me.
I'm grateful for the support of everyone who believed in me and SEKKIN, and I'm excited for what the future holds. If you're thinking about taking a leap of faith of your own, I encourage you to go for it. You never know what kind of magic might happen when you step into the unknown.
